NUFF 2011Welcome to NUFF in Gaza

This is the sixth year that Gaza is part of NUFF, and the background for the cooperation is the Twin City Agreement between Tromsø and Gaza from 2001. The first two years we had participants from Gaza at NUFF, but because of the blockade of Gaza, which started in 2007, we decided to continue collaborating with Gaza by arranging a NUFF-workshop in Gaza, connected to Tromsø through Skype and Internet. Their workshop film will be screened at the last day of the festival.

The workshop will be leaded by the young Gazian filmmaker Mustafa Bakeer who’s film MY DREAMS will be screened in the international competition at NUFF.

This way of including Gaza into NUFF is a very important way of showing solidarity. Even if it is almost impossible for young people from Gaza to travel out of the area, we managed to include them in the festival by Skype and Internet.

The workshop is supported by Friendship Tromsø Gaza, and the practical preparation and connection is made by the Twin City Project between Tromsø and Gaza. The Twin City Project is based on TVIBIT, where we support youth in Gaza with the same methods as we use on TVIBIT.
