On behalf of the whole Jury we would like to thank NUFF for inviting us to Tromso. It has been truely impressing to learn so much about the work of TVIBIT and NUFF.
Tromso can be proud to have a role model for young filmculture in town. It is a wonderful and inspirational festival.
We really enjoyed watching all of your films and hope to see many more in future. Furthermore we warmly want to inivite you to send your works to other festivals too.
Due to the high quality of the whole programme it wasn't easy to agree on the films to be awarded,
but finally we came to a conclussion:
The regional youth jury at NUFF 2009 is based on the collaboration with the Regionsprosjekt at Youth Cultur House TVIBIT and was put together by a youth group at yht youth house BULA in Balsfjord. The jury jugded the Northern Norwegian program at NUFF 2009. In the jury were:
Rebecca Yvonn Rehnlund
Adrian Bjørkan Pedersen
Per Arne Nilsen
The best Northern Norwegian youth film 2009 is:
by Eilif Bremer Landsend from Tromsø, Norway
This film touched us very much, from the beginning to the end. The message in the movie was great! It was also great in technical terms, and a it was a very creative film. And that's why we thought that this film was the best.
The Gaza Youth Jury is a part of the collaboration between Youth Culture House TVIBIT, NUFF and the City of Gaza. Jury jugded the international youth film program of NUFF 2009. In the jury were:
Asaad Al Jabali
Tariq Saad
Saleh Abdulrahem
Lana Hejazi
Hala Al Jabali
Eyad Al Atbash
Nassif Afana
The best international youth film at NUFF 2009 is:
by Zune Kwok from Hong Kong
Nomi Szpiro, Perter Schernhuber & Detlef Fluch
Special Mention of the jury:
by Henrik Martin K. Dahlsbakken - Norway
With the remarkable feeling of authenticity Henrik Martin K. Dahlsbakken disenchants the myths of the Flower-Power-Generation.
The film takes off the pink glasses and offers an ironic view on young idealists caught in the ideas and legends of their time.
Prize For The Best Nordic Film In Age Group A (15 -17):
& Petter Larsson - Sweden
On the surface it's a film about the bizarre relationship between men and their cars. Behind that it's much more a story about how cars are able to connect people - not only geographically. Martin Åhlin offers his protagonists space to narrate openly about their life-long fascination and getting old with it. He visualizes it with beautiful pictures full of nostalgia and glittering chrome.
Prize For The Best Nordic Film In Age Group B (18 - 20):
by Eilif Bremer Landsend - Norway
Eilif Bremer Landsend shows that the Last Stop is a normal station in life. The straight and sensitive narration visualizes the fine line between life and death. The film is wonderfully unspectacular and special. It doesn't hit you in the face, but gets under your skin. And it's a comfort that you can always bring your own coffee.
Prize For The Best Nordic Film In Age Group C (21 - 25):
by Heiðrik á Heygum - Iceland
Heidrik á Heygum places questions of postmodern life under the microscope. He creates a laboratory-like environment, a stylistic black and white-world where he can focus on the essence of possible dangers in ordinary life. For the jury it's not a film about computers or pessimistic views on modern technologies but a film dealing with closeness and disconnection. A disturbing vision on human relations on two sides of locked doors.
Prize For The Best Nordic Youth Film :
by Victor Danell - Sweden
Victor Danell knows his tools - Everything is Poetry Baby is cinematic poetry working on every level.
Brilliant actors move from one adorable mis-en-scene to the next linked by precise editing. The multidimensional story is told by using reflected dialogues combined with well balanced pictures.
A tactile film about making a difference in someone elses life and your own.
To offer an additional oppertunity to films we liked, we will furthermore nominate films to REC Berlin and YOUKI Wels Festival. As we are quite sure, that the awarded films will be screened anyway, we selected two more films for each of our festivals, but of course we invite all filmmakers to hand in their works at YOUKI Wels and REC Berlin.
The nominated films are:
For REC - Internationales Jugendmedienfestival Berlin NUFF 2009
The Light - Gustav Annerblom
The Last Station - Linnea Ramström
For YOUKI Wels
Drawn To You - Emil Gustafsson Ryderup
Aerosol - Jim Hansen
This invitation is linked to a festival accreditation and accomodation in Berlin and Wels.
