The NUFF 2025 jury
NUFF has two juries: The Nordic jury and The International jury.
The Nordic jury will select 1 winner for best Nordic film, which will be awarded 10 000,- NOK. The Nordic prize sponsored and presented by Foreningen Norden Norway.
The international jury will select one winner for the best international film.
The winners will be presented at the award ceremony on Friday June 27th at Verdensteatret. Admission is free.
The Nordic jury
Mike Murphy
With his long hair and big red and white beard, Mike Murphy is possibly Tromsø’s most recognizable film fan. Originally from Washington DC, Mike has been a card-carrying member of the Tromsø Filmklubb since he moved to Tromsø in 2015. If you didn’t see him popping up in your Instagram feed to tell you what the Filmklubb is screening this week, you can probably find him at a film at Verdensteatret in his favorite spot, right up front! Mike was a jury member for the Don Quixote prize at TIFF 2025 and he can’t wait to see what the next generation of filmmakers is working on.
Astrid Aure
Astrid works at Tromsø International Film Festival, the leading film festival in Norway with more than 60 000 admissions for the week of the main festival only. Here, she serves as Program Director for Films from the North, the festival’s widely popular section for shorts, documentaries and features from the Arctic region.
Furthermore, Astrid is head of all projects for children and youth within the Tromsø International Film Festival, as well as Festival Director for TIFF Junior - the latter since 2015. Holding a master’s degree in film science and BA in journalism, she is passionate about films and storytelling. Prior to her current roles at TIFF, she has eight years’ experience as COO and Marketing Manager at the festival, following a 20-year long career in the Media Industry in Oslo. She is solo mom of two wonderful, young girls, and lives in Tromsø.
Johannes Ytreberg Meløe
Johannes Ytreberg Meløe is a trained actor from Westerdals/Kristiania University College. His work as an actor has mainly been in theater, most notably as a member of Antiteateret; he has also appeared in HBO series and worked as a director and dramaturge for Rastløs Produksjoner. Former head of theater at Kulta, as well as as theater critic for iTromsø. Now retraining to become a clinical psychologist.
The International Jury
Hanna Suni
Hanna Suni is a filmmaker from Ramberg in Lofoten, where her early fascination with storytelling began at the age of seven with her mum’s video camera.
In 2017 she directed Ask no Questions — a short film that won several awards across Europe, including two Amandus awards and the Zentropa award in Odense. Hanna’s early success led her to represent Norway as a producer at the Screen Talent Europe Program in the Faroe Islands, where she produced the short documentary Driving to Thule.
For nearly a decade, she has worked professionally in various departments, working with a wide range of projects, directors and teams. She is dedicated to telling stories about voices that have been overlooked, using the power of film to foster empathy, understanding and change.
Kent-Einar Myreng
Originally from Tromsø and now based in Trøndelag, Kent-Einar is an experienced journalist and film critic. He has also made both documentaries and short films in various genres. He currently works for a local newspaper in Trøndelag and runs the film website and podcast SpisEnFilm
Kent-Einar holds a bachelor’s degree in film studies from NTNU and has closely followed festivals like TIFF, NUFF, and others for over a decade, through both journalism and participation with his own films. Before moving from Tromsø in 2021, he served as the Marketing and Communications Manager at Nordlysfestivalen in Tromsø.
Parnia Haddadi
Originally from Iran and now based in Tromsø, Parnia is a filmmaker and researcher with a master’s degree in film from Tehran University of Art. In recent years, her focus has been on youth culture, interdisciplinary projects, and exploring the role of new technologies—especially AI—in artistic storytelling.
She currently works at Tvibit as a film consultant, where she supports young creatives in developing their artistic and cultural projects. With a deep passion for cinema, literature, and the philosophy of art shaped as a refuge for her in a totalitarian country like Iran, and having experienced the profound journey of migration to a bold new chapter of her life in the Arctic city of Tromsø, she is always seeking the power of storytelling to connect people across borders.
