nordic youth film festival (NUFF) 2026. June 19th to 27th 2026 we invite young filmmakers to join us in Tromsø, northern Norway for 9 days of youth cinema - workshop, screenings and networking!

You can attend the festival, meet like-minded young filmmakers, and create films from an idea to a finished product. Participating in the NUFF 2025 workshop will give you mentorship from renowned film professionals. This is the perfect opportunity to get hands-on experience in filmmaking, make new friends, and build your network! 

For workshop participants - we cover the accommodation from friday 19th to sunday 28th. For Arctic and European residing participants, we have funding to cover accomodation. The premiere for the workshop films are saturday 27th at 17:00 at verdensteatret kino!

Workshop participants get from the workshop:  

  • 3 days of film festival + 7 days of workshop. 

  • Accommodation in Tromsø city centre from Friday 19th to Saturday 28th june.  

  • Professional mentors who will guide you and your team throughout the week. 

  • Access to filmmaking equipment and tools. 

  • 3 meals a day, vegetarian and vegan options available. 

  • Screening of the workshop films on Saturday, June 27th at 17:00 at Verdensteatret cinema.  

Requirements for participating in the NUFF Workshop:  

  • Between 15 and 30 years old 

  • Residing anywhere in the world 

  • We do not require any previous experience with filmmaking, but you need to have a strong interest in film and a willingness to work in a team co-creating together. 

The workshops are in English, except for the Sámi-speaking group, which will be mentored by a professional Sámi filmmaker. You can choose in the application form whether you want to be in the English-speaking group, or in the Sámi-speaking group. For the Sámi group, you need to speak fluent or almost fluent Sámi to participate. 

Please note that the flight tickets to and from Tromsø are not included in the cost of the workshop and need to be paid by the participant with a few exception. See below:

Travel and accomodation - whats covered for whom?

For participants living in northern Norway (Nordland, Troms, Finnmark or Svalbard), Tvibit filmfond has you covered.

For Europeen participants we can cover travel and accomodation. For participants from the Arctic interested in joining the Arctic Youth Dialogue we can cover accomodation and travel.

NUFF FILM MUSIC WORKSHOP 2025  

The Film Music Workshop takes place in Tromsø at the same time as the film workshops, between June 21 and 27th 2025. 

As a participant to the Film Music workshop, you will create soundtracks for the NUFF movies, together with your team and with help of a professional musician and a professional sound engineer at Kysten Studio (TVIBIT). The films and your sountracks will be screened at Verdensteatret Kino in Tromsø at the end of the workshop. 

What you get from the workshop:  

  • 2 days festival 5 days of workshop 

  • Accommodation in Tromsø city center 

  • A professional mentor that will guide you and your team throughout the workshop 

  • Access to instruments and to the recording and mixing equipment at a professional studio 

  • 3 meals a day, vegetarian and vegan options available 

  • Screening of the workshop films on Saturday the 28th of June at the Verdensteatret cinema in Tromsø 


Requirements for participating in the NUFF Film Music Workshop:

  • Between 15 and 26 years old. 

  • Residing anywhere in the world. 

  • We do not require any previous experience with film music making, but you need to have a strong interest in music and a willingness to work in a team co-creating together. 

 The workshop fee is 200 EUR / 2000,- NOK and includes mentorship, accommodation in Tromsø, and 3 meals a day for the whole duration of the workshop. Please note that the flight tickets to and from Tromsø are not included in the cost of the workshop and need to be paid by the participant. 

For participants living in northern Norway (Nordland, Troms, Finnmark or Svalbard), you can apply to TVIBIT filmfond to get the workshop fee + your travel to Tromsø covered!
